Gotta Dance Past & Present
Reprinted from June 2006 Issue

-by PAT HORNE
I would like to share with you some information about one of our past dance events and then proceed to our upcoming 2006 Extrava/Dance. Incidentally, our August event is the 60th program that Bob and I have sponsored in the Tri-Cities!

Gotta Dance Past History
In 1997, on August 15th-17th, Bob and I sponsored our 13th Annual Holiday to Dance Festival (held at the Double Tree Hotel) in Portland, Oregon. The workshop staff included Buddy and Laurie Schwimmer, Ron and Karla Montez, Bob Powers and Julia Gorchakova and Jim and Jenelle Maranto. We can’t believe we had such a beautiful and exciting program with all these professional and National Championship performers. Seventeen states were represented by our attendees. If you were not there, you really should have been.

Jack and Jill contests were held in East and West Coast Swing followed by thirteen year old Benji Schwimmer and his fifteen year old cousin, Heidi. Their demonstration was, at that time, showing a very talented new young dance generation. All the instructors performed Swing, Latin and Ballroom Dances. What a tremendous job they did for the packed audience. You couldn’t have asked for a better showcase and Bob and I thank them for their effort.

History In The Making
In keeping with the legacy of Gotta Dance, we will be sponsoring our 22nd Annual Holiday Dance Festival on August 18th and 19th at The Ameri/Suites Hotel in Tri-Cities. This social dance weekend will include complimentary light refreshments on Friday night. On the same evening, Buddy will be teaching a surprise “Dance from the Past.” class. There will be lotsa’ general dancing for everyone to the music of the renowned D.J., Terry West of Seattle.

Saturday Evening there will be a grand gourmet buffet dinner, more shows, dancing and fun following the dinner. The price for the full weekend of dining and dancing is $60 per person. It is truly a bargain. Reservations are moving along so call us as soon as possible at 547-9647. Information is also available on our website at www.gottalifegottadance.com.

Gotta Dance Classes
Our May classes were filled up once again, with students learning American Waltz and East Coast, (triple-step Swing). A few words of wisdom: partner dancing, whether it be Swing, Latin, or Ballroom is such a great social activity. However, not only does it energize the brain, but it’s also a great cardiovascular workout for the body!

Saturday Night Fever Dances
Bob has been playing dance music in the Pasco Red Lion since 1996, just so people like you would have a place to enjoy social dancing. Have you ever stepped inside the lounge between 6pm and 8:30pm to see for yourself how much fun people are having? Please join us, for an enjoyable time. There is a $3 Hotel cover charge and the music (like you can hear nowhere else on a Saturday Night) is yours for the evening!

A new feature to add to the fun are showcase videos on the big screen. Whether you choose to dance or not, people love to watch. We hope to see you there.

June Dance Classes
June dance classes will focus on Buddy’s Night Club-2 step and The Latin Chili Cha Cha classes every Monday and Thursday. Call Pat Horne for more information and reservations. Phone: 547-9647. Website: www.gottalifegottadance.com. E-mail: Gottadance-bob@att.net.
